The top mat is tan and about 4” wide with a V-groove showing off its black core. The middle two mats feature hues of blue that assist in brightening the piece. These top three mats are raised off a black rag mat creating a nice separation between the art and matting. The frame is a stacked frame with two matte black frames, one from Larson-Juhl (Eastlake Black) and one from Studio Moulding (Matt Black). The glazing is 99% UV protective. List price $460

Birds with Nest – (total size 19.5″ x 22″) The vintage styled piece draws your eye to the art by using toned down mats with multiple dark fillets. The large, embossed frame provides a natural-looking color. The fillet that is used on the frame matches the one used on the top mat, it’s dark copper color brings out the shadows in the birds nest and the bird on the in the top corner. The top mat is a beautiful fabric with a 4” exposure adding a little more texture to the piece. The bottom mat is a lighter color, similar to that in the frame, creating a “well-rounded” look. Museum glass eliminates distracting reflections. Price $400

This print is done in a more abstract way, with many different perspective angles and bright colors that only slightly resemble true tones. The piece has three different mats on it, all of which are done with decorative corners. The first two have similar style corners with the top mat being a tan color with a black core and the second being a white mat. The third mat is done with even more elaborate corners and the gray color of the mat really helps to set off the mood of the piece. The warmer tones in the art like the yellows and reds are brought out with the large, sloped wood frame by Larson-Juhl (Kenya – Mara Brown). The glazing on the piece is Museum glass. The total cost comes to around $900 before tax.

This fun piece is an infamous depiction of the Wicked Witch of the West and Dorothy’s red slippers. The mat design is simple which mimics the design of the art print. The first mat is a white mat with a black core that has a double-raised V-groove that draws your eyes towards the tights in the bottom right. The top mat is a black suede which gives the piece some texture without being overwhelming. The total mat exposure is about 4’”. The most entertaining part about this piece is the frame from Bella mouldings. This red glittered frame is from the ‘Vegas’ line which seems an understandment for how fun it really is. The glazing on the piece is Museum glass. The total cost of the piece including the print is $385.

There is increasing awareness these days of the importance of our past. More and more people are researching their ancestry. This family history is invaluable in helping to reach back through time and find the trail that brought us to where and who we are today.

The frame-up can help you with the display and preservation of all your family pictures, artifacts and memorabilia. We have oval frames and convex glass to create period specific framing and can construct multi-opening mats and shadow boxes to show off your collections.

We use archival materials and techniques to help preserve you precious heirlooms.

If not properly preserved these memories we have stored in our closets, basements and attics can be damaged and lost forever so don’t wait any longer, bring them in to the Frame-up today and let our designers help you proudly show them off.

This bright green Van Gogh is a beautiful example of incorporating a frame into the art. The piece uses a stacked frame design technique. The first frame (Omega – Green Rubbed Swirl) has a beautiful texture that mesmerizes the eye with the brushstrokes in the art. The second frame (Roma – La Galleria) helps to draw the eye further into the art, creating a defined break between the print and the top frame. It is a more dulled green with hints of gold, almost like a wood grain design. The last piece of the framing is a thin gold fillet that brings out the ‘wheat’ colors that are dispersed throughout the print. The glazing on the piece is UV Clear. The total cost including the print comes to $600.
